Well done Alice in that set. She was totally out of it a set and a break down but plugged away.

Alice did really well to win that.

She had a MP at 9-6 where she thought her opponent's ball was well out and both players were going to the net to shake hands and suddenly the other player realises that the umpire hasn't actually called it out, and it was point to her......

Alice then loses the next point and now it's 9-8...... but luckily Alice held tough and won the next point

Really please for her

Another MTB win, this time for Alice, 1-6 6-4 10-8. Excellent day with all 4 winning against non GB players, and then the guaranteed qualifier in Anna.

No MTBs yesterday, but 5 of the 8 matches today were, including UKPL stalwart Stresnakova who also edged past her higher ranked seed.

SO five of our players beat higher ranked players

And that, LTA-from-5-years-ago, is why you host events

Well, I am not sure how Alice won that match, she was way behind on percentage of points won on 1st serve, way behind on percentage of points won on 2nd serve, had less break points and broke fewer times but still won.

Doubles draw is out, and from that, presumably looking at MDWCs for Eliz, Lauryn, and Nadia. Talia was a notable omission from qualifying, so probably one for her too. I guess Ranah could be an option too.

Edit - not sure if there are any reward based MDWCs due for this event.

Nadia wasn't able to play singles qualis but is now well enough for dubs.

Very pleased for Anna and Emma. Both have come back to pro tennis with seemingly zero LTA support. Far more deserving of wild cards than many juniors who seem to receive unlimited numbers. 23+ year olds are playing because they really want to. 16- year olds are often playing because their parents want them to.

Thanks SB, I thought it would be quite surprising her getting a MDWC, but equally strange her playing doubles but not quals, but I didn't know she was ill / injured so that explains it. Maybe, Eliz, Lauryn, Talia and Ranah in that case then.

Seems pretty late for the draw, it's often out not long after 3pm.

Agree its nice to see Emma and Anna doing well, do not agree with  your comments on juniors getting unlimited wildcards, in fact theyre very restricted on the amount they receive due to their age in fact.

there have been some very good results with junior wildcards, Ella, Mimi, Isabelle all getting a maindraw win and Talia getting to a final all in 25k and in their 1st or 2nd events. Disagree also at this level that these 16 year olds may only be playing because their parents want them to. Youve clearly not been around enough of these events or met these players to know how driven they are.

On the ball again Ace with your last post, those four did get the WC's.
