The Qualifying wildcards were given to the next GB player on the list, similar to Glasgow.
Qualifying is really weak this week and next.

But there are tons of girls on the ALT list above Isabella Townsend, say, who are not in the draw. Did they all withdraw? Surely that would show up?

She's 31 on the ALT list, Jade is 40 and 38 is Katie D

Where did all the others go?

But well done to Emma on a top-1000 win

And Lara on a very fine score.

Entries are from weeks ago. Players who don't think know they are going to get in, make other plans.

The tournament referee will ring down the alts list to see if they plan to turn up. Nobody these days turns up on site hoping to sign in on the day.

So how do you know if they were next on the list or not?

After all, ALTS don't need a wildcard - they get straight in if there are spaces

I'll repeat my previous comment.
Nobody turns up for on site sign in.
The referee will ring down the list and offer then the QWC to ensure they turn up.

OK, many thanks - so not even Given's, in your view, was a 'proper' wildcard - they were just all ALTs?

You wonder what the LTA is there for......

Very nice win from Dani

Enjoyed watching that

It was rather nervy in the second set

But she deserved to win

And that's a nice ranking scalp

 confuse

It is now CD smile, although not before saving a couple of BPs to avoid the TB.

The likely scenario is that qualifying wild cards were given to the likes of Danielle, Abigail, Emma or others near the top of the alts list on Wednesday. At sign in they then got in directly so handed them back. They were then given to the next GB players to have signed in.

Not one MTB out of all 16 Q1 matches. All 14 big outsiders out, although a good effort from Lara B, and I guess others would have their moments, like Sarah being 4-0 up on Jasmine in the second set, before losing the next 5 games.

The two Brits (who weren't huge faves) most likely to have some joy both came through in Emma and Danielle, and a particularly good win for the latter, as Sewing seemed to have had a reasonable start to her season, so better than expected overall.

Anna and Freya are both 24 and probably know or rather knew each other well
