Just a thought,, Seagull, and thanks so much that you do these.
I was just wondering the prizemoney you put on the events - they, certainly at the top level, arent correct, obviously. eg those at $250k arent really $250k prizemoney events, rather double that or more. Same for the Challengers here, which are different levels.
I just wondered if it makes more logical sense to just miss out the $k amounf, ie it is ATP250 or WTA500, or ATP80 or whatever at ITF level, ITF M15 or W25 etc etc?
Which is probably more accurate and takes away from the specific prizemoney - which is always misleading as the ATP and WTA report these differently, ie there is prizemoney to the players and total financial contribution that goes into wider funds and expenses for the event
It is strange that the Morelos Challenger is on hardcourt, all the other Challengers around then are clay and all the other Mexican events are clay as well; seems strange that the players would all hop onto hardcourt for just the one week, particularly for Jay and Paul if they hope to play FO Qualies a few weeks later.
I am wondering if it has been changed to a clay event and the overview site hasn't been updated? The write up says it is the first of 6 Mexican challengers, when in fact it is fourth in a run of Mexican events which Jay is playing (and Paul for 3 of them).
I reckon we may find this is clay as more information is provided, let's see!
Morelos was hard court tournament when it was last held two years ago.
Yep, realise that and why it is written up like that on the ATP Challenger site - but it seems strange this time, so I wondered if they might have changed it this year but just not updated the details on the website.
A single hardcourt event surrounded by a bunch of clay events in the same locale, in the clay season, stands out a bit really and doesnt make a bunch of sense for Paul and Jay to play it when they have been playing clay and will go back onto clay
Re. Morelos, I do agree that it is a little odd for it to be a hardcourt tournament. A couple of minutes Googling found nothing that suggested the ATP site was wrong. I don't have a problem with Morelos being diffferent, perhaps there might be some interesting results.
