2022 form in numbers

As we end the first quarter and move from hard to clay, its a good time to take a look at form so far this year. This is my analysis of match data sourced from Jeff Sackmann.

Headline statistics from the first quarter

  • 79 women have played a tournament
  • 8 tournaments is the most played, held jointly by Harriet, Heather and Jodie
  • Anna Brogan has played the most matches with 23 played
  • 49 of the 79 women to have played this year have won at least 1 match
  • Anna and Sonay are tied for the most wins with 16, but having played fewer matches Sonay has the greater win percentage at 88.9%
  • 34 women have won at least 1 counter

Harriet is the leading GB woman for the first quarter of 2022 with 231 points from 8 counters. Heather is 3 points behind as GB#2 for 2022Q1. Emma is GB#4 from only 2 wins as she transitions to WTA tour level, which shows the benefit of being able to play at tour level. Sonay's two 25K titles puts her as GB#5 for 2022Q1 with 25K finalists, Eliz as GB#9 and Talia GB#10. Matilda needs to do more if she is to fulfil all our ambitions of being in the GB top 10 come the year end. Established players Amanda and Emily Appleton only have a single point so far this year and injured Fran only has 3 points from 2 counters.

There is a slightly different order at the top if we ranked women on average points a tournament. Emma would lead with 29.4 points a tournament, ahead of Katie Boulter with 29, Harriet with 28.9, Sonay with 28.8 and Heather with 28.5

This is work in progress so there may be some small errors, but I hope I have found and rectified them.
