Claire Liu went on to  reach the last 16 where she lost to  Paula Badosa. In the process Badosa went on to win her 13th consecutive tie break.

And her first match since last August that Badosa has won after dropping the first set (she had lost her last 10 after not winning the first set). By contrast, she has won her last 28 matches after taking the first set, also stretching back to last August. Liu was pretty close to winning - had a couple of BP chances to serve for the match, and was also within 2 points of victory a number of times during the TB.

 It was 14th time unlucky for Badosa as Bencic has won the 2nd set tiebreak to level the quarter final  match.
