Yeah, it's still a really notable win for her. I believe her career 5th best win by ranking, and one of those was via retirement at one set all. Plus Tessah had won 17 of her 21 matches this season, so consistency there, at a career high of 152, and Lily was the 13/8 or 2.63 outsider.
Would be fab if she could go a step or two further yet this week. It could also really shake things up for the likes of Nottingham / Birmingham / W100s etc.
In 2021 Lily played 25 of her 75 matches on clay, with a 15/10 win loss. (According to her ITF profile). Some were at W60 and W100 level, so she has some experience, unlike Jodie who has just a 3/6 career record with the three wins back in 2017.
Argh, Lily got it back to 4-3*, and had multiple break points to serve for the match, including the first which she would love back from a second serve, but Glushko held, broke, and fended off another 2 BPs when serving for it herself, and it's now into a decider. 6-3 4-6 *0-0.
It went 0-2 to 3-3, but momentum back with the Israeli. Despite all the breaks, the opponent has come up with some big serves at important times, including 2 in a row at 40-15* in the last game to set up a big hold.
And now broken from *30-0, so Lily loses 6-3 4-6 3-6. A shame as it was a winnable match, and she was in a decent position in that second set, but still a profitable week for her with an important few months ahead.
