A typical Heather match .

Some nice play interspersed with plenty of rubbish . No plan and too passive , thankfully she was spared the embarrassment of losing to an injured player .

Congrats to Heather. I really like her as a person but cannot bear to watch her matches, and will certainly give the Svitolina match a miss!

According to the BBC website, it's 6 years since she last won a match at Miami,so i imagine she's must be relieved to finally be on the winning side again.

Only saw the first set and yes it was a bit windy, but Heather should really gave won the first set, but lacked conviction.
She moved her opponent round the court, but lacked any power to create Winners and valls just kept coming back.

I suspect Heather will play much better as the underdog in round 2 than in a very winnable round 1 match where she felt a lot of pressure.

I really thought when she was broken from 40-15 at *4-3 she would slip away but huge credit for getting over the line.
