Swiatek's fantastic run continues as she completes the 'Sunshine Double' beating Osaka in the final, and makes it 17 wins in a row. 3 W1000 titles back to back as well. Crazy stuff.
In some ways, strangely, the landscape on the women's side effectively hasn't really changed too much since Barty's shock announcement the other week, as Iga does seem to be a fair bit further than the rest at the moment, so you've basically still got an obvious standout top player and then player 2-7 could shift around any given event, but this time, the now #1 does seem more committed and playing a fuller schedule (she's even still down for Charleston W500 as it stands).
A bit of a shame a Barty-Swiatek rivalry couldn't have developed, but it's up to the rest of the top end to try and raise their levels now. An encouraging tournament for Osaka, although the second set ran away from her, but 5 wins (all in straight sets), 650 points, and heading back in the right direction up the rankings.
