Emma plays either Siniakova or a qualifier in R2, with a potential match with Halep in R3 (or Saville again / Minnen).

Heather has Rus in R1 with the winner playing Svitolina (15) in R2.

I thought Harriet was in the top 100 now

Yes, she should be. But the rankings haven't officially been updated yet.

I know Harriet's form can be rather flaky at times but seriously...biggrin

A good draw for Heather, but still very tough and will be the underdog.

I really wish Heather was playing qualifying here with a better chance of getting some wins under her belt. If she doesn't manage to beat Rus she will have 5 10 point counters from first round losses at mandatory events, which are already preventing her benefitting from a couple of higher scores. The way things are going I do worry how she's ever going to get back into the top 100. Still hopefully she'll have a great tournament here and prove me wrong.

If Heather could beat Rus she would play Svitolina . Svitolina is not at her best these days.  As far as qualifying is concerned there are on paper some useful players here. That includes Harriet, Martic, Juvan,Claire Liu, Yastremska, Kalinskaya ,Qiang Wang, Bouzkova. This is a more impressive list than some of the players in the main draw. .  Heather might be glad she is not in qualfying.

I'd say Emma has by far the toughest draw there. Siniakova won't be easy and right now, on current form, can't see her beating Halep. Would be very interesting if Harriet was the qualifier Siniakova faces.

Heather has a really good shot at getting through two rounds. Rus is absolutely the epitome of an average career player, most of whose points come from the ITF circuit. Svitolina is basically a walking bye most of the time. One match at a time but if Heather can't beat Rus then not sure where she will pick up points before the grass season.

Shame Harriet has to qualify but she should really beat Maria whose best days are a way behind her now. Not sure who Harriet would play in the final qualifier but if she wants to establish herself in the top 100 then these are the matches she needs to win.

If Harriet beats Maria she would play either Trevisan or Yue Yuan
