Liam takes the first set 6-1

(seemingly good news has to be posted twice.... hmm)

L32: Liam Broady WR 124 beat Juan Manuel Cerundolo (ARG) WR 119 6-1 6-2

L16: (3) Arthur Rinderknech (FRA) WR 57 vs Liam Broady WR 124

Why doesn't someone use their brain and make this an ATP 250 tournament?

Do they need to?! It gets the players and some attention for, what, 1/4 the prize money of a 250 event. Plus if you look at the venue, its smallish, looks like a small challenger , so running costs low. Organisers will be running to the bank!

its been held at Irving , Texas , (2012-19) and Sunrise in Florida (2004-2010) before this and other places and has always been a challenger - on a serious note, I guess they avoid 250s clashing with masters events ?

That was an absolute walk in the park.

Liam looked like he was doing hitting practice.

Barely broke a sweat

Didnt watch it but seems like an easy win for Liam. Not surprising when the other guy has only managed 1 win all season so far.

The Cerundulo bros both went out to Liam and Rinderknech respectively.

I think 250s during the 2nd week of 12 days masters is the plan going forward. They want more 12 day events going forward.

Excellent serving helped Liam make light work of this set against Arthur R, ranked 57, and 3rd seed.

6-3

(After having led 5-1)

Lord, he made that look easy. Arthur looked a complete also-ran.

About the best I've seen Liam play for a while (and he's been playing well recently)
