Harriet takes the first set 6-1 then a MTO confuse

Harriet wins 6-1 3-1 RET so the MTO must have been for Ana. Not the way she'd have wanted to win but I think she'll take it. smile

Early night, smile

Yay

Though of course hope no further serious injury issue for Ana.

Harriet has so far added 65 (net 50) points to take her to 575 points which live-tennis and OER have as live ranked 114 as against her existing CH 120 from last November.

Elina Svitolina for her next.

Ana retired due to illness, and the medical was to check her vitals. She was coughing a lot between points.

Harriet still struggling with serve. Only 46% 1st serves in during the match. She did win most of her 2nd serve points, but with Konjuh unwell, we can't read too much into that.

Harriet is with Biljana Veselinovic here but I thought she had a new coaching team this year?

Heather and Katie are first and second on court 4 tonight. Seems our players are getting court 4 consistently, not sure why but good seeing them not constantly clashing with the times they play.

I watched the tie break tens last night (no Brits of course) and it was good fun. One thing that struck me was Sakkari, she just laughed and smiled the whole way through, really engaging. Her match with Sabalenka was good fun and the two of them enjoyed it and had a laugh, including a nice little jokey bit at the handshake at the end.

Good to see them having fun and it would be good to see men or women doing these a little more often ahead of some of these events - the tie break tens organisation has been going since the first one that Kyle won at the ALbert Hall in , what, 2015/16? They have done around 7 or 8 now including one in lockdown at the NTC and it would be nice to perhaps see one before more of the joint Masters events, eg Miami, Madrid as well.

The full version is here if anyone wants to watch it - www.youtube.com/watch. The BBC were obviously restricted by their one hour time slot, but only showing 4 and 5 points in some of the QF, in a literal race to 10, wasn't amazing (especially if it involves your fave, ha).

I also thought it was a very fun event, and most of them were really enjoying themselves. Jabeur was great value despite her early exit - staying for the duration, bringing towels and giving massages at the changeovers, plus making jokes on commentary about being able to negotiate 'whilst she's still in the top 10'.

Heather struggling *2-5, missed break points at 2-2* and then it basically was one way traffic.

Good stat in commentary that Heather is 2/15 in her last 17 matches against top 50 players. Explains a lot really. She's getting absolutely gubbed here, Martincova playing really well.

2-6 *0-3

I'm expecting Katie to win this

ETA as long as she doesn't injure herself

She's struggling with the wind quite badly.

1-3*

The sweet relief when the commentary switches from Croft to Keothavong...

Paolini reminds me a little of Katie O'Brien - the whole body goes into each shot to generate a surprising amount of power.
