Fabulous! Not the best placements (the first round draws were much of a muchness for all qualifiers really but looking at second round opponents these are among the roughest). Katie had a great shot.

Only Harriet playing today who has the toughest task.

If any of the 3 get through, their 2nd round draws are all horrific, Svitlana, Badosa and Sabalenka. Ouch

H2h 0-1, Cherbourg-En-Cotentin, R32 in 2020

L128: (Q) Heather Watson WR 113 (CH=38 2015) vs Tereza Martincova (CZE) WR 42 (CH=40 Feb 2022)

L128: (Q) Katie Boulter WR 127 (CH =82 Feb 2019) vs Jasmine Paolini (ITA) WR 46 (CH = 44 Feb 2022)
H2h 1-0, Imola QF in 2014.

In a 96 player main draw, getting players in the mid 40s is sort of smack on average- could have been better , could have been worse. Hopefully 1 of the girls will turn in a good result

Not when you can't draw any of the 32 seeds who all have byes into R2. Add in a few high ranked withdrawals and these are certainly three of the highest ranked players they could have ended up with in R1, quite apart from Konjuh say so much on the rise again.

Get through these and, as emmsie indicates, good luck in R2!

Great to see all three get through. Pity about the draw though - it couldn't be much harder. The last seed is WR39, so Martincova hasn't missed out by much. Incidently the top seed in qualifying was Greet Minnen, currently WR80, so an average draw would have been more like WR60 rather than in the 40's.

Edit - several typos !

In fact shes fourth on court 4, two mens matches before the ladies. It will be after midnight GMT before she is on court I would guess, 7 pm UK time start.

Typical WTA website - never gives you the correct information. I should have looked at the ATP OOP !

Or the TNNS app is even more thorough and easier to use

Is the Desert Smash thing different to the TieBreak Tens thing?

Yes, Victoria Azarenka was also supposed to play.

Rather odd presentation, Mark Petchey spent more time chatting with players watching courtside during the matches than actually commentating on them.
