Harriet is making a meal of this  again 3-2* - can't she have a staightforward match ?

A great result for the British girls!

The Desert Smash event Emma was supposed to play today seems to have been cancelled.

Is the Desert Smash thing different to the TieBreak Tens thing?

Qualifying spots don't look too bad. Subject to making it into MD and Katie staying fit I'd give our 3 slightly better than evens to progress to R2 in most of those matches.

To be fair our girls have done a pretty good job of getting as bad draws as they could have got.

But very well done so far. Go for it !

In a 96 player main draw, getting players in the mid 40s is sort of smack on average- could have been better , could have been worse. Hopefully 1 of the girls will turn in a good result

I like Jasmine P but ever since I saw her live at Wimbly Q, when Eden Silva should have beaten her (well, slightly unfair but it was Eden;s first set which she blew, overall a 50:50 match) I've never rated her as a real top contender.

So, go Katie. She's been playing extremely well, these last few weeks. Definitely top-60 tennis.

Ana Konjuh was absolutely creaming the ball against Katie B last week. But couldn't sustain it. And then sort of fell apart. Harriet is nothing if not tenacious. If she could manage to survive the onslaught and drag out the match, she's in with a chance. But only if. Not 'likely'

Don't really know about Martincova - but she seems to be on quite good form of late
