Week 10/11 - WTA 1000 BNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells, California, USA

A decent match by both players, I reckon.

Now one set all.

Difficult to call.

Allez, Heather.

She's been a class act since 4-6 *0-2. And she wasn't actually playing badly to have fallen behind.

11 games in a row.

Very nice

The other player seemed to lose her belief a little, but didn't play badly.

Great to see Heather keep it tight and on the front foot all the way to the end, no wobbles

Wins 6-1 in the third. I still don't think she's hitting the forehand freely but brought an excellent level today. Seemed to have great support from a decent sized crowd.

Well done.

No Brits in the doubles this week - I doubt if our girls are ranked high enough to get in, even if they got a good partner.

The match before Katie has finished early because of retirement so could be on soon.

Don't like that draw for Emma at all, but hopefully she gets some company in the main draw.

It looks difficult yes but she gets a bye in the first round and then anything after that wont be too easy???

Very difficult I'd say. If, and that is a big if as both have been inconsistent up until last week, either Garcia or Yastremska plays as well as they did last week I think Emma will do well to take a set. Also the courts are likely to be painfully slow which won't be in her favour either.

Very decent win for Heather over a tricky opponent who despite having a weak serve is a decent player.
Hopefully Katie and Harriet should get through too. Though Errani can be an obstinate customer I'd hope Katie would have too much power for her.

Excellent serving from Katie.

6-3 0-0*

Errani is not on my favourites list. Katie takes first set after a mammoth game to break.

All the Q spots are OK.
