That is very encouraging, Emma is not yet up to last year's peak but this could be the first step back. Her next opponent on paper is no stronger than Garcia so could help get Emma on one of those rolls of wins that were so noticeable last year. So let's just hope that her leg problem is not serious enough to hold her back.
Yes I too think very encouraging given her lack of matches, injury issue coming in and with the Indian Wells courts no doubt slower than she would like.
I didn't see any of the match but especially good to hear that in spells she is looking very good given a fair amount of inconsistency is to be expected and that should tighten up given more consistent match play.
Just hope that leg/hip issue doesn't derail things in the short term.
And given top seed Krejcikova withdrew before the start and was replaced by (33) Cornet ( who has since lost ) Emma is already the highest remaining seed in the top quarter.
