I did have Gabi on my list at no. 37. Since her name had not appeared until now I began to wonder if she had not made the top 128. She was certainly Argentinas' greatest ever female player and had chances to win Wimbledon in 1991.
Im impressed - you must have Jeffs algorithm built into your own laptop!

She is arguably South Americas greatest player ? I personally had Bueno and Vilas up there but in fact both have gone on Jeffs list already . I cant think any female that will come above her and mens wise Vilas and Segura have both gone as well

I remember seeing Gabi and Steffi play as a pair together at Wimbledon, Im guessing it would have been 86 or so, not sure , maybe later. I fell in love with both that day (I was a teenager) but at the time remember Gabi being slightly more moody in her personality . But nowadays she seems like a very warm , lovely , and still very beautiful woman. But I never realised her ELO reached the heights of over 2400 and had really looked at just the 3 slams in placing her outside my top 50.
Memories though !
It certainly wasn't 1986 because Steffi missed Wimbledon that year with injury. They won the Wimbledon ladies doubles in 1988 beating Savchenko and Zvereva in the final. That was the match that Savchenko got frustrated with Zvereva which was not helpful to the partnership.

Not sure - I recall it was on court 2 and I dont think they were champions , but I cant recall their opponents or the score. Suffice to say I was impressed and enjoyed the tennis .
You can look up the draws in the archive and see if that jogs your memory. 1987 to 1990 she played the doubles (plus a few other years outside your likely timeline)
Thanks TA - Im pretty confident it was 1987 - Gabi was every bit as big a name as Steffi then. Neither though had quite made it to being champions ; it was court 3 in fact and Id say half full, but not full. I still cant pinpoint who they played but it does t matter !
Like you , I saw lots of great tennis in the 80s , my first visit being 1981 court one and John McEnroe and his pits of the world outburst ! My only final was 86 and Becker beating Lendl!
Our finals were 87, 89 and 91 (Cash, Edberg and Stich). But checking the archives I now realise that we saw both Graf and Sabatini in 1990 - in the singles semi-finals on Centre Court (they both lost)

Marvellous to go to those occasions, looking back, I personally wish I had savoured all those moments more at the time!
No. 30 is Martina Hingis who was no.38 on my list. Needs no introduction. Her French final against Steffi was a much written about match. It was well covered in Richard Evans History of Tennis.
i still have 28 players left on my list but am only confident that 25 of them are right ( v confident re the 25). However, 3 I have selected in my top 50, I am now v unconfident about, but lets see.
The ones I have to come that I am not confident about now are all women, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario (32nd on my list), Lindsay Davenport (34th) and Alice Marble (42nd).
Regardless of what is to come, of the 21 already , I only have 13 of them, so barely (not even) 2/3rds correct sadly!!). I guess I could still hit 41 in total, but still a bit sad!!
Those I expect to come up still are: (roughly in time order, not by my ranking!)

So I have 14 of each sex to come, with those 3 I have lost confidence in!
If Conchita Martinez made the cut the 3 women you are not confident about surely must. You missed Jack Kramer on your list. I haven't got her on my list but Helena Sukova was in 4 singles finals and a successful doubles player.

You are probably right re the 3 women! Yes, of course, Jack K (my notes have scribbles all over them and names in and out so I had missed him when reading down). - so I have 29 names left and there are 29 places to go - a 100% match is highly unlikely but lets see!
Do you have the same 29 left as me then, Gameover? Any names we differ on in terms of our final 29?

Jon, I've just checked and we have the same people. (counting Jack Kramer)So either we have the correct 29 left or somebody is there who should not be and vice versa.
