Parrizas Diaz must be one of the most under radar players out there. She's 31 in a few months, and recently cracked the top 50, but this time 12 months ago she was a career high 187 playing the likes of Jodie and Fran in W25s. She's played a few more WTA events recently, but before cracking the top 100 last August, she had only played 4 WTA main draws, and also hadn't played a grand slam main draw either until the 2021 US Open.
She played her first tour match in 2006 - I guess it's a classic case of keep plucking away.
Ouch - disappointing Tiebreak from Heather as she loses it 2-7. This feels like an opportunity missed as generally it was very close throughout but I guess is symptomatic of where Heather is right now. Overall points total of 68-68 says it all
Final score 4-6, 6-7 (2)

I liked this more aggressive Heather and with a bit more composure she could have won it. Diaz should be an inspiration to Heather. She is athletic and smart and playing the best tennis of her life at 30.
I watched the first half of this match. I thought Heather looked really good/sharp and was playing very well. Mayar, well her height was very useful for smashes at the net, but she was slow and made a lot of errors - maybe she was tired from her singles match in which she put a a big fight it looks like. But very promising for Heather going forward I would say..........
