Very harsh to stop individuals competing from Russia. The majority aren't based in Russia and I suspect the majority are anti war like Rublev.

You think that's 'very harsh'?

Seriously?

Good set from Hev. Forehand looks stiff as a board but backhand is doing plenty damage and she's serving well enough. The German has a ferocious forehand.

6-3 0-0*

The second set is not going so well for Heather. She loses it 2-6

But drops the second set 2-6 after a DF.

There's definitely a bit of Jodie in Niemeier - apparently she used to get frustrated really easily as well, but has reigned it in a bit recently.

12 holds in a row in the decider and Heather into yet another 2022 TB decider, and an immediate mini break for her as well.

And a TB win this time. 6-3 2-6 7-6(4). smile

A very good WTA evening for the GB girls.

Only Heather and her team (Mum) will know why she kept playing to Niemeiers forehand but its a good win against a powerful opponent.

Opponents play tomorrow - Misaki Doi or Nuria Parrizas Diaz.

Did anyone else hear the pre-match announcements recorded by Heather? Has any other player/tournament done something similar?
