Wow Katie. Konjuh after an excellent first set panicked and started spraying when Katie found a new level.

Wow, I didn't realise Konjuh had got her ranking back so high, I thought she was still in and around the 100 mark. She was #400 exactly 12 months ago, so while the talent was/is there, and staying injury free was key, she's done really well to get herself back inside the top 50 in a short period of time.

Great win for Katie.

Very impressive. Serve working well, and pretty solid in defence. Anna Bondar next, so in with a good chance

Wasn't really expecting that but should have known better, when Katie walked on court with big smiles, looking relaxed and confident. Lovely win and looking forward to next round.

Alicia & Olivia scheduled in dubs late tomorrow.

Remember Anna Bondar impressing in the Fed Cup match in Bath 2019 against Jo. She's risen up the rankings since then and is  now in the top 80 .

Great result for Katie, must have a chance of reclaiming the British no.2 spot soon?

She could in theory get there this week if she was to win another two matches and reach the SF here. Though that would need Heather to go out in R2 in Mexico and Harriet to not win the USA W60 title  Hopefully the others make it as difficult as possible

Live ranking points :

Heather : 552 + 30 ( R2 so far) - 10 ( lowest counter ) = 572

Harriet : 552 - 42 ( due off ) + 15 ( first non counter ) = 525

Katie B : 469 - 15 ( due off ) + 42 ( Q+R2 so far ) = 502

What we could really do with is one or 2 ( or all 3! ) getting into / back into the top 100 before too long.

That'll cheer coup droit up, also explains her form lately. She's not having her soul crushed

I didn't see the whole match but I thought she looked happier when she came on court. And even when she was down in the first set she didn't look so stressed as when the lesser Bates was her coach. Great news! And explains it all.

First set our girls 6-3.

Gorgodze getting very stroppy about line calls. Umpire doing a good job.
