RE: Week 8 - ITF W25 - Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (outdoor hard)

She can only play what her ranking gets her into and except for a 10 month period in 2018/19 that has been outside the top 200. All her titles have been at lower level ITFs. She has not yet won a high level ITF (60K to 100K) and looking at her record, I'm surprised at how few tournaments she has played at that level. Only 10 in total and hasn't played a 60K since 2016 (when they were 50Ks) and outside of pre Wimbledon grass has only played two 100Ks, a Chinese one in 2018 and a US clay one last year. She needs to be looking at playing high level ITFs before moving up to WTA level.

She could have scraped into the 60K main draw in Acardia this week after last minute withdrawals but instead is here. I'd like her to aim a bit higher than choosing 25Ks in Sharm and Santa Domingo but I don't think she's yet ready to move on to the main Tour.

To be fair, 6 of those titles came before her career high in 2018. She had begun progressing into some WTA tournaments around her career high but has had stop start with injuries since then which has arguably kept her ranking below where it would be.

It is of course possible to get into the top 100 on W25s alone. I remember Mel South being criticised for still playing $25K tournaments just before she got into the top 100, but it did get her over the line.

Arantxa Rus did the same 2 or 3 years ago, think she won 7 25k in a year.

Katie now of course 10-0 in ITF finals!

I don't think any other GB player comes close.

Ms Raducanu has a 100% record in Grand Slam Finals.
