Katie served for the first set.

But, Lordy, there have been SO many doubles faults this set - where have they all come from???

Broken back - Now 5-4*

Sachia's forehand keeps breaking down though - so maybe receiving for the set will be more productive?

Is anyone watching the final? Not a very high quality match with lots of errors from both. Katie should have wrapped up the first set on her serve but now has to break again.

So you were right CD and receiving was more productive.

And that plan worked well....... 6-4 to Katie

(Only tuned in ten mins ago - and, yes, SuperT - pretty poor/patchy from both)

Katie took a tumble whilst leading 3-1, had the physio look at her ankle, play stopped for 10mins. She lost that service game and the next game too for 3-all. Some excellent play in the 7th game to take charge again. A bit wobbly with the service, but 1st set captured.

Thanks foobarbaz. I had to take a break to do a job at 3-1 and was surprised when I came back to find the score was only 4-3. That explains why and also explains why Katie was looking so tentative and make more errors that she usually does.

Maybe. But also possible that she's very nervous - she certainly looks tight.

She's moving well - and only feeling her ankle on the points she loses (as many players do)

I agree, Coup Droit, it does seem Katie is more nervous than I've seen at times in the last few years. It's probably to do with not having played many matches in the last several months, and the pressure that all players feel re. obtaining ranking points.

Thankfully no problem serving for the match. A love service game gets the win. Well done Katie.

Lovely one, Katie.

I don't particularly like Vickery's game. And I really don't like her demeanour on court.

Katie was the better player. Not a really high level match. But she deserved it.

Very pleased for her.

I agree with that CD. Vickery's body language was terrible and Katie definitely deserved to win.
