Sonay a fairly clear betting favourite at the moment - average 1.50 vs 2.38, so like 1/2 vs 11/8 (the opening odds were closer). It follows the women's doubles final which starts at 10am.

I think Jodie needs the win, but I want Sonay's run to keep rolling. She's been so impressive these past months and I want to see her rise up the rankings like a rocket.

Not convinced by Jodie's week so far, she's got the wins but against far lower ranked players - and they've all been tight. I'd say Sonay 6-4 6-2

  I agree. I'm backing Sonay.

Double ouch. That's a poor result.

Didn't follow the scores as we have had no power for 6 hours, and trying to save battery

A win for Sonay would be best I think. Jodie's ranking isn't suddenly going to shoot up towards the top 100, for eg, with a win, but the sooner Sonay gets up the rankings the less she will need wildcards etc. Seems clear the W25 level is the bottom level at which she needs to be competing so a better ranking would give her more opportunities for direct entries.

I think Sonay will win but I lean to thinking it maybe better if Jodie wins.

In the grand scheme of things the ranking points for reaching the final and maybe winning the title are lgood but in themselves not hugely significant even for Sonay,, the way she is going and the way she will hopefully continue .

Jodie though probably really needs the boost. She has fought back well in many sets this week but unconvincing overall. She is still though relatively young and most people see a potentially very much better player there than she has producesd the last year or so, especially if she could improve her mentality in matches.

Whereas I doubt any particular negative effect on Sonay with a loss today after het start to the season overall. Indeef a defeat can make some reexamine, learn from it and go for it even more.

The match has just got underway, Sonay serving, but I'm only seeing a black screen on the ITF site, which isn't a great sign.

It's up now.

Jodie is very much a rhythm player. If she gets in the groove, she can beat anyone.
Sonay will frustrate her due to her defensive qualities

First set to Sonay.

I'm enjoying this match. Lots of long rallies and big hitting. Good movement from both as they utilise every inch of the court. I think they are very evenly matched but I fancy Sonay to win as I think she will be mentally stronger when it gets to the sharp end of the match However I agree with Indi that winning would huge for Jodie and could be a massive boost for her season. We all know where Sonay is headed - it's just a question of how far and how quickly.

Not much in it. Sonay slightly more consistent.
