I hope Sam isnt making the mistake of letting the singles slip when she is still ranked in the top 300. Plenty of time to go doubles route in a few years.

Yes hopefully a joke and not a bad one.
If doubles concentration makes sense for anyone now it is Sam.
Would be great if she could crack the top 100 and maybe even get Slam entry if she wants to give it a real go.

As a opposed be playing singles in Slams where the financial gain and profile is far higher??? Disagree entirely. Can understand it for the likes of Tara and Alicia but not an active player within range of Slams in singles. It wouldnt be that difficult for her to get there in a couple of years doubles wise. Shes still a good enough tennis player at the moment. When her tennis slips then certainly doubles next in line and success shouldnt be too far.
Sam's singles ranking is largely from 2019 points and a W25 title in March 2020. If it weren't for those points being retained she would be outside the top 500.
At the risk of disagreeing with Jaggy, I'm sorry but I don't really see Sam as top 300 player any more. She has that ranking almost exclusively based on points gained in 2019 and 2020. According to my calculation she has only accrued 60 points during the past 12 months which in normal circumstances would probably place her around the 600s. Her recent singles performances haven't been great whereas her doubles have been impressive.

Oops sorry. I got distracted whilst drafting my reply so missed Lambda's post and said the same thing. Sorry
