Not entirely unexpected. One key point though - Harriet failed to hold serve in the entire match - her two games were early breaks in each set.

Marta likes rolling over Brits. Tough event, just to qualify

Ouch.

Still, given the beating Kostyuk handed out to Emma at the end of last year (as alluded to above by Pancho) I didn't have great expectations for Harriet. Although disappointing about the serve, just when we thought it had improved.

Yeah not a surprise that one. I think she's unlikely to get either of the lucky loser spots, but I hope she can build on that win even if pointswise she didn't get the reward it deserved!

A real shame after her great win against Samsonova, perhaps she had nothing left in the tank? With Harriet it always seems to be two steps forward, one step back.

Three seeded players out in FQR, so the chance of a LL for Harriet is precisely zero - there appears to be just one available at the moment.

Heather has 280 Acapulco title points due to come off on 28/02. If you combine that with Heather's results here and Harriet's results so far here, I make their current projected points at 28/02 to be;

Heather : 819 + 13 - 280 = 552
Harriet : 549 + 18 - 15 = 552 !

Katie B has 18 points and 30 points due off in the next 2 weeks. Replacing these with her 80 title points today and a best non counter of 3 would give

Katie : 434 + 80 + 3 - 18 - 30 = 469

Hypothetically another 60K title in Germany next week would take Katie to a projected 546 at 28/02.

Clearly the ultimate 28/02 rankings will depend on how this coming week continues for Harriet and Katie and how they all do in the week beginning 21/02.

So currently looking very tight between at least two for the GB #1 position. The bigger picture pity is that we would then have none in the top 100.

 errr. Emma?

 parapraxis or prophetic?

Marta is currently the WTA's  highest ranked singles player yet to reach a WTA singles final  and she is just in the top 50.

Eden is on Amazon Prime in her doubles just now for folks that like that stuff.

I stumbled across it in the vain hope that Andys match was gonna be there.

Maybe not seeded but former Slam winners Ostapenko and.  Halep have reached the semi finals.

Yes. But slam winners Kvitova, Kenin, Swiatek, Azarenka, Muguruza and Krejcikova were all in the draw as well. Strong field, as you'd expect.

Ostapenko has defeated 3 Slam winners to reach the semi finals.i.e. Kenin, Swiatek, Kvitova. Next plays Halep in a repeat of the 2017 French final.
