That was a pretty awful, tight TB from both players.

But I think T deserved it, just, overall (and won 8-6).

Hev hit two great serves but her groundshots were SO tight and T was hitting through the ball better.

Real shame though

That's 3 final set breakers she's lost recently. Tauson, Zidansek and here. Match point in this one though. Ouch.

Great win for Harriet against WR34, pity the reward is so meagre, but has a chance against Kostyuk to go further

And Heather's loss against WR39 Tomljanovic wasn't a bad score. She just need the results to go her way and her confidence will zoom up.

Frustrating loss for Heather. Only 5 break points converted out of 28 although Aja played very well on many of those. Watched the match in its entirety with Hev's Mum.

Yes she did. A couple Heather was too tentative on return but a lot of them Alja just took control of. Still stings though.

Is this Harriett's best win on the tour?

Shame for Heather but this happens when you keep losing close matches.

Yes, it is Harriet's best win. The oracle has tweeted

Steven@GBtennis

Dubai WTA 500 QR2: Huge congratulations to @harriet_dart on her first victory against a top 50 player! She battled from a set down to upset 3rd Q seed Liudmila Samsonova RUS WR 34 (=CH), 96 places above her, 2-6 6-3 7-6(5)!

Heather has 280 Acapulco title points due to come off on 28/02. If you combine that with Heather's results here and Harriet's results so far here, I make their current projected points at 28/02 to be;

Heather : 819 + 13 - 280 = 552
Harriet : 549 + 18 - 15 = 552 !

Katie B has 18 points and 30 points due off in the next 2 weeks. Replacing these with her 80 title points today and a best non counter of 3 would give

Katie : 434 + 80 + 3 - 18 - 30 = 469

Hypothetically another 60K title in Germany next week would take Katie to a projected 546 at 28/02.

Clearly the ultimate 28/02 rankings will depend on how this coming week continues for Harriet and Katie and how they all do in the week beginning 21/02.

So currently looking very tight between at least two for the GB #2 position. The bigger picture pity is that we would then just have Emma in the top 100.

LOL, temporary brain fade which you picked up on far too quickly before I had almost immediately quietly edited it.
