2022 Wildcards

Special Exempt (SE)
A player that is on the Qualifying Acceptance List who applies for and receives an exemption into the
singles Main Draw of that weeks Tournament because the player reached the finals in singles, or is
otherwise still competing on the first day of singles qualifying, at a Qualified Tournament in the
previous week.

So unless Talia has made the qualifying list, she wouldn't get an SE

Love the graph, Lambda.

Am expecting Ranah to have a MD wildcard next week (and Matt Rankin)

It does help with Sonay and Talia getting SE and Eliz withdrawing. Decisions are somewhat easier.

I think Ranah was a slam dunk anyway.

She's the LTA's number one junior (barring Matilda). She's only 2005. Just back from Australia so couldn't play earlier.

She's a shoe-in, whatever Talia and Sonay are doing, IMO

ADD: Think there's at least a 25% chance that Talia doesn't play next week anyway. If she has any sort of fatigue, or little niggle issues, which after this week's exploits is well possible, I'd be pretty sure her parents/team would pull her out. After all, it doesn't really change anything for her - this week has been SO amazing.

(Of course, if she's A1 fine, it's brilliant that she's got an SE place. But, unlike the 20-year-old women, say, she's not banking on these events)

Are you sure that Tailia qualifies for an SE in Glasgow?  I thought you actually had to be in the list of qualifiers to get one and she is only way down the list of alts.

I'm useless on rules, SuperT biggrin

I was basing it on what I understood from others, as above (and others too, not just paulisi)

But if she doesn't qualify, that's fine; I still think there's a reasonable chance she might not play whatever.

I wasn't having a go at you personally CD, just trying to clarify the rules as I knew someone on here would know for sure.  Actually it wouldn't surprise me if neither of these play next week.

Didn't take it that way, SuperT - no problem

Yes, as I understand it, you can't get a SE from qualifying if you wouldn't have been in qualifying which kind of makes sense.

Just though going on what I have previously read on the forum.

Less than two hours before sign-in closes, so won't be long before the draw in out and we can see who's got th QWC this week.

Forgot about this thread, but yeah, you'd think Freya, Ranah, Mimi, and maybe Talia (if she wants to play), but another youngster if not.

Summary of remaining wild cards for 25K to 100K after the first GB swing

Although Sonay has received 3 MDWCs they have effectively being free thanks to the new rule of being able to use an extra MDWC where you win a match in a tournament as a MDWC. Eliz and Emma W also have their full allocation of WCs thanks to this new rule. Mimi, Hep and Isabelle Lacy have only 1 WC available to use. Mimi and Hep will have another 3 available from their birthdays in October, but those 3 will be all they can use between their 15th and 16th birthdays.
