Possible / probably POTM implications as well - it's a biggee biggrin

marvellous result - but dont forget there are similar antics going on across in the mens event, with a British WC also reaching the final there, so it will be all to play for in POTM, and that is with two weeks left for more antics to come in Glasgow, on the big boys and girls tours!!!

With 50 ranking points on the line, and a number of top 200, and in this case, top 150 players involved, I don't personally really see the two 25k events as direct counterparts, especially with the lack of bigger events on the women's side, making the fields generally stronger, but of course, if posters are more men's tennis orientated, and if there's been some obvious standout scalps then there'll definitely be alternative viable candidates, plus, as you say, we are early in the month, so plenty of time to add to already stellar months.

we shall see but either way it has been a good week - but we have Rotterdam to finish (Cam and Neal still in), Dubai/Doha (Dan, Andy in both), Emma in action at Guadalajara end of month, Liam to play Delray and Cam and Liam in Acapulco. Plus Lloyd finishing doubles this week and Jamie, Joe, Neal and Lloyd , Dan and Ken as well. LOTS still to come and any of those could provide a big headline win (or not!). Plus Glasgow next week which gives players a chance to build on this weeks performances.

I would say it is completely wide open.

PS I would say as it stands, Harry Wendelken in M25 Shrewsbury compares very favourably with the womens results this week, not better just favourably! If we look at who he has beat, its a strong performance!

PPS if Alfie H goes to top of Wheelchair World Rankings as he could, he would deserve a strong shout as well!

When a few years ago the ITF changed their lowest two levels from men's 10Ks and 15Ks and women's 10Ks and 25Ks to 15Ks and 25Ks for both there became an equivalence of prize money.

But there remained a big divergence between the men's 25K and the women's 25K points, therefore as Ace says the women's 25Ks naturally continue to in general attract much stronger fields.

So other things being equal I would agree that a starting point is to consider women's 25K success as being superior to men's 25K success.

For individual player comparisons of their week or month, of course the players that our players themselves have beaten is of relevance. But for me so is the quality of the overall field.

On both of these, I'd personally currently put Talia's week fairly well ahead of Harry's. Though great week for both.

Talia could probably be in prime contention even if she loses tomorrow - she's 16, literally her 2nd ever pro event, and has beaten 2 circa top 300 players, and a top junior, with average odds of 6.40 and 5.80 in 2 of her 4 victories - so a massive outsider. If she loses, then Sonay would have claimed a very impressive title taking out the 141 top seed en route - I'm obviously a little biased, but this week alone, either would take some beating for me.

It does look a very good week for Harry as well mind, with a circa 300 win himself over Aiden, and a couple of other 500-650 type wins, but his relative average odds were 2.06, 2.21, 3.08, 3.40, but I guess if he were to win his final (2.89) and Talia lost, then perhaps there could be a case for him over Sonay, but if Talia wins, I think it's pretty unprecedented stuff.

I dont disagree and part of that is the fact the womens tour in essence has no Challenger level apart from ad hoc W60 events and one or two WTA125. Clearly the mens Challenger takes players up that level.

And I agree on your thought process, however I do think we need to look at a whole month and not just one exciting week, and we have two more weeks to come where a lot could happen

Wow.
Now come on LTA, it doesn't take too much effort to get one of the cameras from Shrewsbury that are no longer needed there.

Eliz and Andre take the first set against the top seeds 7-6(4)

And to add to the list of possible POM nominations, don't forget Katie B and Lissey/Liv are still in action in France

It's incredible really. A British player on the brink of a W25 final, and I've never seen her play before, ever. In hindsight should have last week, but she wasn't on my radar as much as others so didn't watch any of her matches.

And there it is! Unreal.

You think it wouldn't be too much trouble to try and set up a camera tomorrow considering it's an unprecedented all GB MDWC final, but I can't see it happening.

Without cameras are we sure this is really happening or have the LTA faked the tournament/results?wink

Sonay enjoying the steady progression that Emma largely skipped over last summer. Wouldn't be surprised if they end up playing each other again before too long.

Well done Sonay!

Was thinking of coming down to watch tomorrow but it's just over an hour's drive and I've just been told by the club that it's a 9am start for the final, so possibly not.

9 am seems very early given they have been starting at 10 all week; are you sure they have told you correctly?!

Well I thought it strange myself, but I specifically said the final of the UK 25K Pro-Series and they told me 9am, and at the end of the call I checked that it was 9 and they confirmed that it was...

Seems you were given wrong info. It starts at 10.

What an amazing set of results today. I seem to remember that at the start of the week we were bemoaning how much stronger the field was this week, and yet here we are with two finalists! Congratulations to both and thanks for giving us so much pleasure. Just a shame the matches haven't been streamed!

Crazy innit biggrin. All that initial talk, and it's probably been the best W25, results-wise (even if lack of streams), in recent memory. 4 GB QFs, 2 GB SFs, 2 GB F, and the age, and even the lack of experience at the level of the finalists makes it so much more exciting as well.

Does anyone have a preference for a winner?

No preference, happy with either for different reasons.

Yep, just off the scale crazy

Tiny preference for Sonay just because I think she is going to go and 'do more' with the win - I'm assuming she's pretty much on full-time adult tour now (whereas Talia has a lot of juniors left, and academy, and school (I'm assuming) etc).

But thrilled for them both whatever
