Week 6 - ITF W25 - Birmingham, UK Hard

But having just got the first break of the decider, hopefully my above conservative thoughts won't apply (or previous page as it were).

Talia leads *3-1.

Talia - take a bow. That is some impressive performance.

An all GB wildcard final and two SE to boot.

It's incredible really. A British player on the brink of a W25 final, and I've never seen her play before, ever. In hindsight should have last week, but she wasn't on my radar as much as others so didn't watch any of her matches.

And there it is! Unreal.

You think it wouldn't be too much trouble to try and set up a camera tomorrow considering it's an unprecedented all GB MDWC final, but I can't see it happening.

Wow!

I'm amazed Talia has been able to sustain her level through 4 matches, with so many of the sets being 7-5 or 7-6.

What an amazing set of results today. I seem to remember that at the start of the week we were bemoaning how much stronger the field was this week, and yet here we are with two finalists! Congratulations to both and thanks for giving us so much pleasure. Just a shame the matches haven't been streamed!

Talia moves from 1 ranking point to 31, UNR to about WR 850 and should be into the GB top 25 ahead of Emily Appleton based on having slightly less counters for her 31 total.

And 20 more points up for grabs omorrow.

marvellous result - but dont forget there are similar antics going on across in the mens event, with a British WC also reaching the final there, so it will be all to play for in POTM, and that is with two weeks left for more antics to come in Glasgow, on the big boys and girls tours!!!

With 50 ranking points on the line, and a number of top 200, and in this case, top 150 players involved, I don't personally really see the two 25k events as direct counterparts, especially with the lack of bigger events on the women's side, making the fields generally stronger, but of course, if posters are more men's tennis orientated, and if there's been some obvious standout scalps then there'll definitely be alternative viable candidates, plus, as you say, we are early in the month, so plenty of time to add to already stellar months.

I see Eliz is a late withdrawal for Glasgow
