Great win for Alicia, and perhaps it can help propel her back towards her CH, or maybe even beyond, but at the same time, it does feel like a missed opportunity for Beth.
Only 3 points for reaching the FQR, which won't help Beth, although it will cover a similar one from 2019. Five points for Lissey might lift her 10 places, depending on other results.

Hopedully a LL spot opens up.
Yes, I've seen Beth play some good stuff this year but that's a second surprise domestic loss following the QF defeat to Freya in the very weak Bath 25K event.
Well done to Alicia but Beth will be disappointed.
Read elsewhere Katie could have probably made St. Petersburg qualifying but chose Grenoble instead, does she need to go deep to justify that decision?
Katie's lowest ranking counter is 3 points so any win would improve her rankings total, be it for starters a R1 win here for 8 points or a QR1 win in the St Petersburg 500 for 13 points.
Clearly overall there are a heck of a lot more points available in St Petersburg and it will often be good to really test yourself, but such is Katie's form of late the W60 seems to be a much more realistic option for winning matches and adding points.
She has been rather unlucky to draw what must be close to the highest ranked non seed and she could bow out in R1 but I think her choice was very understandable at this time. Even apart from ranking points she could do with a few matches.
