This isn't available on a stream anywhere, is it (?) Hard to imagine what's going on, there was nothing in Djoubri's recent results to suggest that this was going to be anything other than a fairly straightforward opener for Katie.

Fortunately she has just saved a couple of break points to stay on serve in the 2nd set. 1-6 3-2*

Didn't take her chances in the first set - 0/3 break points against 2/2
Serving to stay in the match now at *3-5

She's a break down now. Maybe she's jetlagged.

Saved two match points on serve. Broke to love. Went up *30-0 at *5-5 with all the momentum looking to be with her, and then lost 7 points in a row. Saved one more match point.

Out 6-3 7-5. A bad one. When she levelled it up I really thought she was going to turn it round.

On the face of it, that's an absolute shocker - just checking Djoubri's previous results, this is only her second top 200 scalp. However, she did beat Parmentier in 2020 when Pauline was just inside the top 150 and the only time she has had back-to-back wins against top 300 players (Grabher and Turati) was in qualifying here last year, so she obviously likes playing here, maybe it's her home club, hence the WC.

Very disappointing start to the season, her place in the BJK Cup squad could be in jeopardy if Emma plays.

Surely time to question the whole set up with her training/fitness and perhaps even sport mentality training?

She's got a very decent game or at least had a very decent game.
Maybe she isn't fit or well? If not as others have said really a pretty depressing result. Pretty sure she has points to defend this week or next?

Her game was good enough in February 2019 to be ranked 82 in the world when she impressed in the Fed Cup tie at Bath. She beat Coco Gauff  a year ago , a fine result.

Even allowing for her very bad injury it is hard to argue that there's been much progress in the last 3 years. She's at or approaching the age where she should be at her peak but the top 100 looks a way off right now. Still time obviously.
