So, unless Ellie B is a promising talent, Emily Ap should really be coming through that comfortably, and it will be a GB player in the main draw regardless. Hopefully we get one or two others coming through as well.
TA mentioned Jasmine, Millie, Sonay, and Eliz as potential MDWCs on the entries thread, but it looks like Millie was a late withdrawal, so I'm not really sure who could be the 4th, assuming the other 3 have them.
They may give it to a top junior and as quite a few are based at Loughborough under Joss Rae.
I wonder if the PF in PFLWQD is something to do with the pandemic.
I first thought it stood for Penalty Free Late Withdrawal Qualifying Draw. Soumeya was playing a delayed doubles QF in Antalya yesterday. But I couldn't see why any of the other players with a PFLW meet the criteria for a penalty free withdrawal so I'm now thinking it means Post Freeze Late Withdrawal. Its good they've started showing withdrawals after the lists are frozen.
I was thinking it might be Penalty Free, but it could equally be Post Freeze. Have to ask a player !
Good stuff from Emma, she was the pre match favourite, but that's the top seed out of her section, and she should now have a very good chance to progress to the main draw. The Latvian put so much effort into saving MP at 8-9 down, only to then DF on the next point after the changeover, Emma winning it 5-7 6-3 11-9.
I think PF does mean Penalty Free as according to the ITF regs 2022, players are allowed 3 penalty free withdrawals during the year. This rule may have been in place before but perhaps is now just being made more transparent.
