Week 4 - ITF W25 - Loughborough, UK Hard

46 minutes, 58 points and Beth finally takes a break point. That's 1/8 for Beth and 2/8 for Mariam. *2-4

First set to Mariam 6-4, one hour and 3 minutes, 3 breaks to 2 and 43 points to 37

Second set very similar, 6-4 to Beth. 3 breaks to 2 and 41 to 37 points. Past the two hour mark now.

I see Knudson keeps on performing well. After run in Bath, she has taken out Fett now.

She's a very good player. She 's only not world ranked because of having been at uni in US and then Durham. I think she could well win this week's event. Semi might be tricky but very likely to win the final if she reaches it.

Beth 4-3* in the final set.

Broke early and took a 3-0* lead. Broken back and in the last game saved a BP and avoided another break.

C'mon !

Great resilence from Beth as she saves another 2 BPs in a 16 point game. Great hitting by both in some fine rallies.

5-4*

Beth had 40-0 at *3-1. And just had 40-0 at 5-4* but to be fair Bolkvadze played 3 very brave points to save them and then hold. Very little in it - Beth playing a good level of tennis for the most part. Hopefully she can forget about the match points, I wouldn't say she did much wrong with them (maybe the second she could have gone down the line a shot earlier but that's about all).

Ah missed most of the next game but Beth had 3 MPs at 40-0* then lost 5 points in a row.

*5-5

Gosh that was intense! Will sting that one but she gave it absolutely everything.

Very high quality match. Shame about the tie-break (2-7), but nothing between the two of them.

Having watched Jodie yesterday I wouldn't rate her chances against either of these two.

The defensive quality of both players was outstanding and their fitness.
Continuous 10-15+ rallies is some going.

Thanks Paul for the info on the MPs. Glad they were much more won than lost.

I stayed with it all thereafter. To no avail as the TB rather drifted away.

But Beth otherwise gave it a really good go and these balls were well thumped!

PS: Not quite sure how she managed to lose to Freya in Bath

Shame that Hannah and Tabitha ended up losing the MTB.

But great effort from the girls to get that far.

Well done to them
