Week 4 - ITF W25 - Loughborough, UK Hard

Didn't see any of the match but that seems a perfect result - Beth needs the win after a rather disappointing (for her) loss to Freya two weeks ago.

Sonay has a lot of upside and, as Indy, says should be aiming for top 500 pretty quickly. But that will happen without trouble if she plays enough events this year.

Marni will be feeling a little peeved that she beat Gimbrere, and yet here's Gimbrere, in the QFs.

Shame that neither Lauryn nor Eliz could quite pop Kulikova's bubble.....

I saw the end of the match and wow, does Sonay belt the ball, that's some forehand she has! Well done to Beth for withstanding that barrage! Sonay's 11-match winning streak may now be over but 16-2 in singles since her return to the circuit last year is still very impressive indeed.

Dani and Lauryn served for the first set at 5-3 - and then lost the next four games.

Tighter than I expected for Emily and Ali. And now they meet the 2nd seeds in the SF.

Soumeya and Eliz were 6-4 *4-0 up. Their opponents kept falling out during the MTB which was quite funny.

I watched pretty much the whole thing. It was possibly the most bonkers match I've ever watched.

I couldn't work out if Gabric actually wanted to win or not for most of it.

Pleasing to see Hannah Smith doing well in the doubles, she had a lot of success in juniors and represented GB many times in doubles.

Yes, me too. I don't know Tabitha at all (although I've seen her name)

But I wrote about Hannah when I saw her on livestream at the Auray Open (I think) - such a tall girl for her age, big serve, and loved coming to the net. It was an unusual game for a junior and unlikely to be hugely successful at junior level. But always stood the chance of coming into its own at adult level. So I've always watched her results more closely. As you say, great to see the doubles success here.

Very close match so far between Beth and Mariam. First three games all went to multiple deuces - 32 points so far. Beth trails 1-2*
