The next tournament is St Petersburg on 7th Feb, more than two weeks away. I would have thought the hand would have repaired in that time, if Emma wants to play. Most of the top British girls have entered.

Do you not think Dubai and Qatar would work best, an extra week, she clearly has sponsorship and other commitments down there (dont IMG run those events?) and then over the States for IW and Miami a few weeks later.
I don't know too much about blisters, but was wondering whether letting hers get to that stage was lack of experience. I mean, whether she could have got it taped early last game or even before the start of this one. It must be a common ailment for tennis players.
Onwards and upwards.
It almost feels as if karma is demanding payback for her good fortune in New York given the injury and illness troubles she's had in almost every tournament since.

This is what worries me most. I do not know her schedule but I hope that someone in her team speaks up and gets her on a run of events that is right for Emma as where she is development wise. She so desperately still needs to learn her craft, I accept that 125k's may be a thing of the past but equally I hope we do not see her going from one high profile event to another. She really needs to take some steps back in order to move forwards and I fear this is not going to happen.

In her interview it was reported she had to decide whether it was over to mexico next (have they got Monterrey and Guadalajara or just one?) or Middle East (as above).
Huge win for Amanda Anisimova over Osaka on a deciding set MTB.
Top half last 16 is set, and bar no Barty-Osaka match up, it has pretty much held up perfectly, not necessarily in terms of seedings, but as an expected line up:
Barty (1) vs Anisimova Sakkari (5) vs Pegula (21) Krejcikova (4) vs Azarenka (24) Badosa (8) vs Keys
Jabeur (9) withdrew late so it meant no high seed in Pegula's mini section. Svitolina (15) was the highest ranked in Azarenka's section, but their respective form has been so different, Vika now leads the H2H 5-0, and Svitolina was a 3.5 (5/2) outsider in their match, so no surprise there, although the score line perhaps more emphatic than expected, and Keys was the 1.5 (1/2) favourite in R1 vs Kenin (11) who now drops to 94 in the live rankings, so again, she effectively took over the seeding there, especially after coming into the event on the back of a title.
Not quite the same in the bottom half which has already lost Muguruza (3), Kontaveit (6), and Rybakina (12) before R3 has even started.
Edit - I guess you could argue Gauff (18) may have maybe been expected to come through the Keys-Kenin mini section, although she did lose a tight match to Madison last week in Adelaide, so not much between them.

Loved the second half of the Osaka v anismova match.
Really good to see Naomi back, looking fit, happy, playing well.
But Amanda was playing better and better - she did so well to fight off the match points, and stay aggressive
I was really enjoying the match, but stupidly ruined it at 3-3 in the decider when I accidentally found out the score, which removed all the suspense and intrigue, and Eurosport 2 cut off at 5-5 to go to some skiing (I was watching a Sky+ recording on delay), so I haven't watched the conclusion yet, but will definitely watch it on Discovery+ at some point - I was hoping to see Barty vs Osaka, but you certainly can't begrudge Anisimova after the past couple of years she has had.
My sleep has been all over the place this week, I'm literally getting a couple of hours shut eye here and there, and not even sure if I'm actually sleeping - I was up until after 5am watching the Badosa vs Kostyuk match, and that went from a seemingly routine 6-2 6-3/4 type match to one where I'm not quite sure how Paula eventually got over the line, but she's still there fighting.
3 Americans in the top half last 16. Good to see - tennis, womens tennis, needs a strong USA field, financially, and hope we see more of them at the business end of events. If they lose China going forwards, then the USA needs to fill some of those gaps with more events and coverage and to do that it needs players who are at the business end of the big events.
