Battle of the 16 year olds in Eva vs Ella. I didn't realise Ella was the daughter of former footballer / manager Neil McDonald. Is she meant to be promising?
You need to hang out in the junior section
(or get a life.....)
Yes, we posted about Neil quite recently because Ella has been doing well. She won the J3 in Loughborough. And a J4 in Finland just before.
She is at the Stirling Academy (although I think she comes from Lancashire)
Also for the love of God can we get rid of the ITF rankings?
I give them solely for W15s were there is often nothing else to differentiate the players or even to show why some players are seeded. They are clearly irrelevant for anything higher than W15s.

I realise I sound ungrateful but I just found it hard to follow as a) it was information overload and b) I sometimes had no idea which was the ITF ranking and which was the WTA one.
A real talent? I think that's a major exaggeration. She should have taken her US college place. She's a really bright girl. She'd have liked it. But both her and Jodie turned them down, which was fine (imo) for Jodie. But Emily App was never really a top prospect, even if Sky thought otherwise. However, she has some good skills. And is pretty young. I guess time is on her side..

It's shame Lauryn's match isn't on a streamed court as I would be interested to have a look at her.
Yes, that's partly why I'm hoping she wins.
I used to rate her pretty highly as a junior.
More so by far than Georgie Axon, for instance, and a lot of the others from the cohort.
But when I saw a bit of her livestream last year (for the UK Pro league, or whatever) I was a bit disappointed - I'd expected a bit more dynamism etc. But maybe I was wrong/ saw a bad bit/ she has really picked it up in the last couple of months....
Any which way, it would have been nice if she were on a streamed court....

Emily has just lost following a truly woeful effort in the second set tie break. Summed up by the penultimate point where her forehand return didn't appear to even make the tram lines from what I could see (not a great picture TBH)
Yes Emily is a sad example of a bright, good, player not having people round her to give her the right advice. She would have had a standout college career I suspect. And the tour would have still been waiting for her if she wanted, as it was for Lauryn.
