Week 2 - ITF W25 - Bath, GB Hard

That's a nice win for the Uni of Bath player, Freya Davies - she beat the French younger Mazzoni sister 0&1

Dani Daley won easily too, more expectedly maybe, so that's two more foreign players eliminated.

Congratulations (if that's the right word!) to Coup Droit for being only the second forumite so far (after SC) to make it to 40000 posts, and (since he only joined in 2013 instead of 2005/7 like the other members with the 5 highest post counts) for doing it at a speed that seems almost impossible to the rest of us! (apart from JonH, obviously)

Looks great.

Thanks, steven - don't know whether I should laugh or cry !

'Get a life' comes to mind......

But, honestly, I work nearly all the time on the computer, and I find it a perfect diversion when working through a heavyweight file, to break for 15 seconds, check a score, post it, whatever (yeah, I know it's sometimes a fair bit more than that biggrinno). I also don't have a twitter account, or instagram, or facebook. Only flutter my 10ps on Bet365 once in a while. Don't watch cuddly kitten videos......So this is my 'péché mignon' as the French would say, my little indulgence (literally, 'cute little sin')

So thanks to you (and sheddie and all the original crew) for getting this going. And to everyone who participates and keeps it dynamic. Honestly, I really appreciate it.....

But maybe I should slow down on the next 4,000 biggrin

biggrin Ne t'en fais pas, nous avons tous besoin d'un péché mignon et le tien est inoffensif, peut-être même bénéfique! smile

Sheddie and the original crew deserve all the credit for getting the forum going, I only jumped on a few months later!

There was a suggestion that I should put brackets round seedings to differentiate them from rankings, so how does this look?

I would say it looks messier, maybe just put seedings in bold and they would stand out, less characters would be my idea. But great work putting all that together regardless.

I do it this way - bold is to highlight, I don't bold the seeding normally.

Q2: (q8) DALEY, Danielle (GBR) UNR / 1506 (CH = UNR / 826 2019) v (q12) RAWSON, Nadia (GBR) UNR / 2649 (CH = UNR / 1459 2019)

Yes, that's basically how most folk here denote seedings and I think works well. Some put it after the  player's name but to me, even bracketed, it is clearer like you have it there, separate from the rankings.

Also for the love of God can we get rid of the ITF rankings?

I'd be happy to see them go too.

There's a UK Pro League feel about some of those matches. I had a look at Nadia and Danielle's H2H, and this will be their 10th meeting since 30th July 2020. Nadia leads the series 7-2, but this is the first ranking match, and probably the most important.

It's an ideal time to have a GB event, I've never known such a weak domestic W25 on paper and a good opportunity for some to get a bit of a fast track. I'm sure the week gap between Bath and Loughborough isn't by accident either biggrin

I give them solely for W15s were there is often nothing else to differentiate the players or even to show why some players are seeded. They are clearly irrelevant for anything higher than W15s.

I think that whoever posts the draws or results should do it as it best makes sense to them. So, sure smile
