Week 1 - WTA500 International - Adelaide, Australia Hard

I cant see Katie having much issue getting a new sponsor but shell be surplus to requirements for Nike UK now Emma is so big. Ellesse or maybe Adidas might work well, I dont think they have a huge UK presence. Shame Hev is no longer with New Balance. Their clothes are really fun!

On the tennis front, I wonder whether both might have been better to go for the 250s - but good to start the year with decent ambition.

I was surprised Harriet opted for the 250 and Katie the 500. Harriet usually puts herself out there for the bigger tournaments and qualifying didn't look much stronger in the 500 but Harriet is nothing but focussed on the best pathway for her so must have had good reason to select that tournament. Katie and Jodie could learn a lot from Harriet, never scared to change coaching set up to progress

Interestingly I think Katie has a little - her preseason was done in Spain at the same club as Cam (and Alex De Minaur!!) and she seems to be out there quite regularly now. Not sure how much shes taking from that if the same old team are still involved behind the scenes though. Id suspect her and Jodie have different challenges (but both could do with a change!)

Match is suspended at the end of the first set according to the WTA website. Not sure why, as Barty is still playing at the moment, and it isn't that late (8:20pm) - poor lighting ?

Barty had a tight couple of sets against Gauff before taking the third 6-1. But Sabalenka lost in straights, and Sakkari in three.

Hev+ to continue tomorrow.
