US College Swimming Controversy

Wasn't sure where to put this

https://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/news/lia-thomas-transgender-swimmer-from-penn-swims-fastest-times-in-nation-controversy-brewing/

There's been a lot of controversy on  this issue , with a  longtime USA Swimming official resigning from their role in protest against a UPenn swimmer, being allowed to compete for the school's women's team after three years of racing as a member of the men's program; and currently smashing the women's records.

The NCAA has a one-year suppressant requirement but it's being argued that it is not stringent enough to create a level playing field. Potentially more research needs to be done to ensure a more level playing field

There is clearly something wrong here. I have nothing against people being trans and they should be allowed to live their lives as they choose.

But to compete in this way is an unfair playing field. If a woman had spent 10 years pumping herself full of testosterone to increase muscle mass etc, would they allow her to simply stop taking it for 12 months and then be allowed to compete ?

No. She would be banned as a drugs cheat and rightly so.

There are no simple answers here. But the current situation is not working.

There is a simple answer. Sex affected sports have two categories, female for people without a Y chromosome (with some rules to cover DSD's) and open for everybody else. The problem is that lots of sports governing bodies (and some politicians) are scared of the trans lobby.

It's fine to trample all over women's rights. As long as the (MtF) trans lobby are pacified. Yet another example of the privilege men carry. There is literally not a single female function that these people won't attempt to colonise for themselves. The most infuriating part of it is that young women enable them, totally oblivious to the fact they are giving away hard fought female rights. In the cesspit that is Twitter there are trans men taking pregnancy tests so deluded are they and asking for recommendations for period apps. Biology counts.

I mean it's just common sense. If your born a man and go through puberty and change your going to have an advantage over female born competitors and thus it shouldn't be allowed.

It goes far deeper than sport though. They're literally colonizing anything female. Plenty of MtF trans are winning woman.of the year in their respective male dominated careers even though they've only got to the position they're in because they were born Male. Hopefully sport will be the straw. More and more people are speaking up including plenty of Male sportsmen. The lobby tries to shut the conversation down but more and more people are calling it out.

I dont think anyone should be discriminated against, but it doesnt seem fair to advantage one group by disadvantaging another (namely female college athletes).

Interesting to compare numbers with women transitioning to men who will be competing for male college scholarships - likely to be close to 0!

Not just young women. The recent report by Caroline Noke MP's Women and Equalities Committee basically ignored all the evidence given to it by women's groups.

This will be the end of Women's tennis if the authorities don't clamp down quickly. Fortunately Martina Navaratilova has been very vocal on this issue in general along with Sharron Davies

AI find it truly amazing how some people don't understand that discrimination works both ways: discriminating "for" one group inevitably discriminates "against" another.

As I have said previously, its not fair to advantage one group, by disadvantaging another; maybe the answer is to include an open category in all events apart from equestrian?

Half of England's ladies angling team has quit - in protest at the inclusion of a transgender woman in the squad for a competition.

Three anglers on the six-member team for the Home Nations shore fishing championships have withdrawn after Becky Lee Birtwhistle Hodges was selected for the competition squad. Birtwhistle Hodges has faced numerous players opposing her competing since her debut in 2018 - before medically transitioning a year later.

On biological males upper body strength advantage, former team captain Heather added: "This is such an advantage, with the ability to cast longer distances than any woman.

"They have the capability of doing this while using more powerful equipment, such as stiffer and more powerful rods.

"Not to mention the extra strength she has wading in and out of the surf or walking through mud and rocks, and the stamina to keep this going for four or five hours.

Atleast the Angler medically transitioned. 95% don't bother but you know, they feelz like a girl!!!
I'm full on proud TERF after 2 disturbing encounters with so called TiM who historically would've just been labelled creeps and got themselves on the sex offenders register for exposure. Now they can just say they are Women and expose themselves willy nilly (pun intended) with no consequences while bleating about being the most marginalised in society
Viva Posey Parker I say
