Disappointed to see both Will Jansen and Issy Purser lose - are they playing an event above their normal levels? Presumably not given Will was seeded 4?

Will lost in the first round of the last two tournaments after previously winning two tournaments in a row.
I guess we don't always know what's going on: perhaps he's just exhausted; carrying a slight knock; trying something new with his coach - on the getting worse before you get better strategy? Hopefully things will pick up for him in the NY.
Will Jansen is certainly on quite a few people's radars, after winning the U18 National Championships, and playing qualis at Wimbly and putting up a good show against Anton (I thought both Joel and Will Nolan played better at the Nationals, just, but Will won, so end of.... ANd he's a year younger than those two as well)
So, yes, I think this is a disappointment, no doubt about it. Although, as Nix says, plenty of plausible reasons.
But I don't think it's really that surprising for Issey.
She has a lot of counters, but they're not very high quality ones, a J5 title this year (which is not that great, as she's 17), a J4 semi and a couple of J4 QFs - it hardly blows you away..... I don't think this result was much of shock, as such, really.

Thanks both - yes, I see Issy's wins have largely come from doubles titles domestically as well, and at J4/5 level. Will seems to have a generally higher level and standard and hopefully can move on through
I was trying to take a look at the J3 Loughborough entry list, but it doesnt appear to have one anymore on the ITF site, although it was there earlier in the week. Is the event still on, do we know? Presumably it is some sort of techno glitch?
In the dubs, Issey is through to the final; Talia & Mimi have their SF still to come; no boys...
Luca joins the other 3 in the quarters with a strong win today and talia and Mingge win, so they play Issey in the final. The Brits are doing well here
