RE: Week 48 - ITF W25 - Jablonec Nad Nisou, Czech Rep. Carpet

What a load of nonsense. Just because you subscribe to the general view does not mean you arent opinionated. It is not contrarianism. Just because someone doesnt have the same view does not mean that they arent entitled to it and we cant all have a discussion about it. Different opinions makes everything more interesting.

For what its worth I do agree with the notion that singles is the pinnacle but also believe that doubles can help to kickstart a singles career. Additionally, I think some people are more suited to doubles than they are to singles and dont deny their right to have a doubles career.

Spot on Doolan. Very good points made by all on here, reasoned and balanced. Bagel has perhaps been bagelled here opinion wise

Onwards and upwards and lets put the opinionated bagels zero chance of 150 to bed in the future.

Shame the season is at the end for a lot of our players momentum with a lot of the men in particular just now.

Be csreful what you wish for! The GBR #10 spot is a bit of a poisoned chalice and has not been kind to it's encumbents. Only Katie S has been able to move up from #10 this year. I believe Emma and Katie B jumped it.

The less fortunate include Mandy, Maia and Katy D. Doesn't seem to have Naiktha any favours either.

Still hoping that Beth wins.

She did win but I hpe she avoids the caveat

With Jo taken out of the 06/12 rankings Beth is #10 this week but will then go up to #9 next week and it will be Naiktha back at that #10 spot.

Incredible week for Beth! Long may it continue, she's certainly one of the biggest surprises of the British tennis team lately.

I don't know if Jo has just retiired or retired from the WTA  or just stopped playing.. If she's retired from the WTA then all her points will come off at once otherwise they come off on the due date.

Jo still shown on OER so who Knows ?

The official 06/12 WTA rankings are out. Jo is no longer listed.

Out of interest , is she a Beth or is it Sarah Beth - in terms of how people generally call her? I have no idea so genuinely interested !

And suspect I asked this 2 years ago and forgot the answer

Her wiki says "commonly known as Beth Grey" and certainly Beth is how she has long generally been referred on here in general posts.

Simiarily i've never heard anyone use Jodie Burrage's middle name Anna even though she's usually billed with it.

I think it's how the player signs into the ITF system, right at the start, when they take out membership, so to speak.

If you fill out the form with your full name, as Jodie Anna Burrage (or Ryan James Storrie), that's what'll show up, even though it's not how you call yourself, you're just being thorough with your admin, and putting your full name.

Hence, also why nearly all are listed as Daniel (even though most go by Dan)

Andy used to be Andrew Murray, I'm pretty sure, but changed it.

Stan Wawrinka was definitely Stanislas before he changed it.
