I was having a lazy lie in this morning and put Beth's match on my iPad. Monnet turned up 10 minutes late, played two games (3 double faults on her serve) and then called for the trainer. It was obvious she was no better after treatment so I think she had to retire. Beth looked frozen with all the hanging around waiting but still exchanged a warm hug with her opponent at the end. I think she deserved the win. This will be her biggest counter and suddenly the gap between her and the top 10 doesn't look quite so daunting.
Big jump in rankings once these points go on - possibly 60 places. Closing fast on Naiktha in tenth spot (WR295 on 227 points according to OE)
Naiktha is due to drop 15 points on both 13/12 and 20/12 so, if no replacements, reducing her points from 227 to 197 on 20/12.
Beth has so far added a net 38 points to what will be 142 points on 06/12, taking her to 180. A further 25 points for winning the title here would take her to 205 on 13/12.
So if Beth wins the title here she is likely to be ahead of Naiktha as GB #10 on 20/12 ( GB #9 if you take out Jo ).
Other than these two sets of points drops by Naiktha ( half of two 25K RUs from 2019 ) neither has any further points due to drop off before the year end.
Be csreful what you wish for! The GBR #10 spot is a bit of a poisoned chalice and has not been kind to it's encumbents. Only Katie S has been able to move up from #10 this year. I believe Emma and Katie B jumped it.
The less fortunate include Mandy, Maia and Katy D. Doesn't seem to have Naiktha any favours either.
Cheers for the link.
Beth has certainly become much leaner in appearance, the courts are rapid and Beth's game suits the court speed. She is serving very wide of the T and the serve out wide is having a lot of success.
I don't believe Beth has ever won an ITF singles title before. Half way there.

Very good point and well put, re Beth's new ultra-fit, 'lean' look.
