Agree - well done them. I think Wimbledon handled it well as well ; yes security approached them, given recent court side events they probably had a duty to ensure all was in order, but then let them on their way quite happily. I dont think Wimbledon should be criticised , unless Ive missed some heavy handed security guys?
another month or two goes by and this seems to have just dwindled away - I am surprised at the WTA that nothing is being done, the Chinese have got away with it, in essence.
I did wonder, anyone know where the WTA Finals is being played this year? One of the 1000 level events has gone to Guadalajara but they wont be hosting the Tour Finals this time. With two months to go to when the Tour finals should be played (typically end October? Oct 31 is the date scheduled for it to start) a venue selection must be imminent?
I can't see any speculation about likely venues anywhere, anyone have any insights?
Thanks for the bump. The post is exactly right - someone's gone missing as she expressed her freedom of speech and nothing seems to have been done about it by other governments who could influence this. Makes me wonder what else goes on, and how people must be prisoners in their won homes.
Even if the WTA get to speak to her directly it's very unlikely she'll repeat the accusation, do they then take her word for it even if it's probably under duress?
Still no updates but the ITF seem to have caved in and are heading back to China. The ATP had, of course, already done so, but the WTA are still asking for evidence that Peng is ok.
presumably we will see a long list of events go up soon, with WTA Finals in Shanghai and a big load of money on the table for the players who get there.
