Sonay and Dani won their doubles, 6-3 6-0, against a wildcard pair.
Am pleased Sonay is playing doubles (assuming she doesn't have horribly long singles matches, and it's all a bit too much).
She hasn't played any since 2019.
She's not great at the net and it may well help to get her better, and a little more confident.
And it's fun; she seemed on her own at the other events, when they showed the livestream. A bit of a laugh in dubs may do her good....
Doubles can only improve their game. I quite like how Billy is just doing doubles this week, I think Alistair Gray did the same a few weeks ago, a run of singles and doubles then rather than a complete rest, just a doubles week. Keeps the eye in but a bit more light hearted.
Going with the ITF rankings talk, I would be in favour of getting rid of them completely when people post draws as I never know which ranking is which, plus ITF ranking is no guide to anything anyway.

But thanks to the people who post draws.
That was definitely where I was going when I questioned it !!

I agree - the ITF ranking is pretty useless most of the time. I only use it in the doubles draws if the player isn't ranked, and then it would be UNR/xxx and then only relevant if it is quite high. Current Junior rankings can be useful in the same way if a player looks as if they are on the way up.
The girl Dani beat got in as a lucky loser and lost just 1 game in her opening round. Which is a bit annoying when Dani is a set down, but that's tennis!
Yep, had hoped that would have been a little closer. A decent week. But, as said, I think at the moment she's more looking to get a couple of counters, rather than challenging the top 1000....
Sonay and Dani have declared a walkover in the doubles - best wishes to whoever - I rather feel it may well be Dani who is injured..... but that's based on nothing much (could equally be Sonay who has a twinge, of course)
