She did play in the Battle of the Brits, so quite probably would have had a few more outings in summer 2020 if it wasn't for covid.
Didn't she have an injury last year as well? IIRC she missed the Progress Tour playing only the Tie Break Tens event.
Tie-break tens was mid July - she lost to Emily Arbuthnott in the first round. She won the UK Pro finals in August 2020 (wild card if I remember rightly) - and the Battle of the Brits was December. I think that was all she played.

She also played Glasgow and Sunderland before lockdown. Was she due to play Shrewsbury as well?

As she was doing A levels, it is likely that she would have played during the holiday periods, particularly the long summer holiday.
Whilst no big deal what Im keen to understand is how she found the key to unlock the us open from nowhere and as of now not be able to replicate it. Its probably the sports story of the decade and Im sure films will be made. The bigger story will be when or if she finds the repeat button as, if she does, she will go on to great things. If she doesnt it will remains film to watch in 20 years time . Hope and think it will be the former
I think you're asking the absolute key questions here.
She's still so inexperienced at tour level that we don't know what her real level is. Frankly, the way points are allocated, means she's probably quite over ranked right now. Expectations are high and she's not meeting them yet.
I think it is good she now has an experienced coach though whether he's the right man for the job only time will tell.
Emma needs to work on her overall fitness too. She's got a very sound basic game but when the courts are slow she doesn't really have a killer shot. She needs to learn to use the drop shot too.
At the moment she looks too easy to overpower when the ball doesn't go through the court like it did at the US Open.
We'll know more after next year's Australian swing where the courts should suit her. I think, unless she can develop some killer shot, she's going to struggle quite badly on the European clay courts and at places like Indian Wells where the courts were a disgrace frankly.
Obviously she's always going to be a US Open Champion but I think she could as easily be out of the top 50 as in it this time next year once the US Open points drop. Of course to counter this she will have no points of note to defend for a long time.
I still think too many folk will prove to have been getting their knickers in an unnecessary twist re Emma's post US Open 2021 and she will surprise many again.
Much more focused again her talent will out and I predict that she will end 2022 higher ranked than she is now.
