Week 44 - WTA 125 - Midland, USA Hard

Hmm, poor result. You could get more than 7/1 on Perrin at a few bookies, which probably does / did look too long, but a match Harriet would have clearly been expected to win. That said, it is normally quite hard to back up a successful week, especially as she's not long back from injury.

I can remember Perrin edging a very tight SF match between them at Surbiton a few years ago when they were similarly ranked.

A result that pretty much sums up her season really. Some good, some bad but overall average. Her ranking is improved though I believe.

The fall and rise of Conny Perrin proves to be Harriet's undoing.....

I see Peter was using last week's rankings for Harriet.
Live ranking now has her at 118 despite her defeat.

It's always two steps forward, one step back for Harriet.

Like the fact that the last four standing in singles are all Americans

And also that they're not the 'top' names, as such.

Lots of ethnic diversity too.

Cate McNally is the new up and coming player, age 19.

Danielle Lao, age 30, ranked 316, is your real outsider.

Robin Anderson, 28, ranked 214, is not far behind

Madison Brengle, 31, is the biggest name for most spectators.

Good luck to all of them.

Harriet and Asia get the doubles trophy, biggest doubles win of Harriets career - she was ecstatic after the final point and they definitely deserved the win throughout the match - their opponents purpled patched in the second set but the girls were on top of the whole MTB

Could we see Harriet becoming a doubles specialist later in her career?
