Outstanding win. I've always thought that SBG has potential to get better and better, wishing her the best

Not sure what her highest ranked opponent she has beaten, but she must be close.

Talented, but inconsistent.

I think her previous highest ranked opponent was Ylena In-Albon who was WR258 (currently WR171) who she beat in Montreaux last month.

Might be wrong but I never thought of Beth as talented but inconsistent. She always seemed to me like a decent player but hugely lacking in presence, in confidence..... Maybe something to do with family circumstances. Or just her. But, as a younger woman, she seemed to be very shy on court, and let others be far more forceful, in their persona as well as their tennis. As she's got older, she seems more sure of herself (which is normal, really). And better at imposing herself. Which is great.

Yes, CD, I agree. She seems to have shaken off that shyness, on court particularly. Two or three years ago she always seemed to tighten up at the end of close sets, and lost a few matches when she shouldn't. This year she seems to be much more confident, fitter than before and improved all round. Seems to have been a definite improvement since that UK Pro final against Emily Appleton in week 1.

I also think that taking part in the Battle of the Brits has helped a number of our players with their confidence after playing alongside the top players.

Must be her biggest week in terms of singles performance? Does this take her to a new CHR?

If Beth's good form continues she could well catch Tara at GB #11. Unfortunately there is then a 120 place gap to Katie S who is GB #10. smile
