She's allowing herself to be pushed a little too far behind the baseline for me. The surface looks fairly slow for indoors to me, quite sticky almost?

Emma gets 15-30 and loses a long, excellent rally (I thought she caught the line but apparently not). Finds the space on a tough passing shot to get a set point. But balloons a backhand return off a second serve miles long. Double fault brings set point 2. Chips the second serve return this time and punished for it. Brilliant return to the feet gives her a third chance.

Gets the balance on the return right but Hercog draws the short ball, only to go long!

Dug in well. Impressive.

Some of her play is a joy to watch now, I definitely think she's got this if she can cut out some of the silly errors she's been making in sets 1 and 2.

Beautiful to 5-0*. Hercog getting very wild and mentally out the match, Emma now flowing and serving much better too.

Very impressive win from some difficult positions. Really good to come through that. Saved a break point in the final game. First WTA win!

This is a huge result for Raducanu . The pressure would really have built on her if she had lost the match and it must be a huge relief to get through the match and more impressive is she had to battle hard in the second set which she could easily have lost . Sometimes this type of match does more for your confidence than an easy win given how much pressure she must have felt .

Good stuff

I was kind of of the mindset that what remained of the season really didn't matter much. It was much more about getting prepared for next season.

But after everything i guess it is nice just to get out there and win again and I'm now thinking it will do no harm at all to have a few wins in her last two tournaments of the year, ending on a good note before the close season.

PS: On now reading above, I certainly still don't think it was huge.
