Boys & Girls: J5 Nastola, Finland - Hard, indoor (Week 42)

We have a large contingent in Finland this week so worthy of their own thread.

AND they all won their first rounds - a full house biggrin

That's R1 wins for:

Viktor Frydrych, Freddie Blaydes, Oliver Hague and Tom Aston

Isabelle Lacy, Amelie Brooks and Guilia Lesa

(James Ashworth and Tom Aston were the best in the doubles, making the SFs).

And QFs wins for ALL the girls (all age 15), all of them in 2 sets.

Looks like Isabelle Lacy has made the singles final here, where she plays the Estonian girl, Rahnel

It's been an excellent week (and counting) for our players.

A little sadly, both Freddy and Giulia lost their semis by the skin of their teeth, both losing the third set 6-4.

Isabelle as top seed has eased into the final in style. As befits her seeding.

Viktor is a more 'surprise' finalist, in that he was only in qualis last week. But he's quite highly rated by the LTA (although quite a few stories, by all account) and was certainly under-ranked where he was. So, great to see him having a good run.

Viktor has been part of the National Age Group squads for a while, so is highly touted by the LTA.

I know, that's what I said.

I've heard the LTA bods talking about him.

And, as above, not without a few stories

I read an article (from a year ago) that talked about Viktor's move from Wales with his family to Magnus Norman's academy in Stockholm.

Like Harry Wendelken? He was at that academy, no?
