31.6 votes where placed on average per group. When we did this 18 months ago, round one drew 27.8 votes average so a decent 10% plus increase in votes.
Lets hope the second round keeps that up.
After the tie break polls close at 1230, I will finalise the groups for Round 2 (already drafted) and post , they will then go up for around 24 hours til sometime Saturday pm
It looks like we have 14 men and 15 women into round 2 (incl winner of Beth and EWS play off) and then the winner of Evan and Hep as well, so pretty even split.
None of the wheelchair participants got through, Gordon looked close for a while
Juniors are well represented though with Jasmine C, Hannah K, Matilda M all through and Hep O, in a tie break to join them.
Doubles specialists through are Joe S, Neal S and then we could say Tara M as well in that; EWS in a play off as well probably counts.
Felix Gill, George Loffhagen, Derrick Chen, Toby Martin, Dan Cox (surprised me that one), Jonathan Binding, Will Nolan, Ali Collins, Naiktha Bains, Tiffany William, Emilie Lindh, Millie Bissett, Phoenix Weir, Alice Gillan, Aidan McHugh, Aleksandra Pitak, Matt Rankin, Lucy Shuker, Mark Whitehouse, Jan Choinski, Brydan Klein, Tanysha Dissanayake, Alicia Dudeney - so that is 23 in total out of the 90 in the votes.
Of the group winners, Harriet Dart got most votes in Round One, 87.1% - look out for her in future rounds!
Matilda M got through with just 33.3% of the vote, the lowest winning vote. Evan and Hep both got less than 10% and would the lowest voted pair going through, whoever wins their tie break
Round one all over - sllght rejig on group structures, we have 6 groups of 5 now in round 2, with top 2 getting through to form 2 semis groups and a final
Interesting format. I am thinking 5 pretty likely finalists except 5 into 4 doesn't go.
OK, I've narrowed it down to 4. Of course it will need 2 of them to be in each SF for me to have a chance of being right.
If it helps your thinking for the semis , the 6 group winners will be split 3 in each semis group with the 3 runners ups from the other 3 groups. But the allocation of the 6 winners into the two groups will be random. Ha.
Just two players with no votes now. Roughly 27-28 votes per group so far, this could be interesting if we get more overnight and before the 1 pm close. 2 players across the groups have over 50 percent and 2 groups could easily end in tie breaks being needed
18 months ago, Kyle and EWS came equal 5th in the final, both went out first round this time. The top 4 last time - Dan, Andy, Heather and Beth - all got through but a couple of those could well drop before the semifinals this time. All change ?
Votes have reached 31.8 average across the groups with 4 1/2 hours left. Beating round one groups. Lets hope the semis get the same level of involvement, thank you to all.
