Main draw is out, but not fully released, so just snippets here and there.
Emma will face either Osorio Serrano or Sasnovich in R2, and possibly Halep in R3 if they both win their respective opening (R2) matches. Halep starts against either Kostyuk or Zhang. That's probably enough for now, but Kvitova or Azarenka would be the projected 4th round seeds.
Zhang seems to often feature in either Emma's draw or Jo's draw in recent months. Azarenka seems very good at giving walkovers to opponents . You might find Kostyuk proves a difficult opponent . Halep has just got married so not sure what her tennis will be like.
Gutted for Katie, thought she had a great chance to make the MD. She claimed to be healthy before the tournament which makes the result even more worrying.
I hope Bates doesn't have a malign influence on Emma's game, he certainly doesn't seem to be doing Katie any good at the moment.
What has Jeremy Bates actually achieved as a coach?
Sorry JonH. The main draw was there earlier. No idea what happened to it.
No worries DF - as per the printable link posted, it seems they havent put it on the website as a "draw" you can just open up, but they have that separate printable pdf section where it does appear.
Anyway, I can see it now, in all its glory! Dont think we should anticipate a Emma v Heather match tbh!!!
And looking at the draw, with Halep and Kvitova in her path, anything beyond last 32 for Emma should be regarded as a triumph I would say
I'll just be curious how Emma plays having taken that break. It seemed to be playing lots and her momentum that carried her to the trophy in NY. She was quite slow when she started the American swing in comparison to where she finished it. I wonder whether she's more of a momentum player like Andy, or like Clisters and can come straight in at top level.

Be interesting but to me it did make absolute sense to have such a break after that US stretch and of course the tumultuous culmination.
Also, amazingly in many ways, that stretch was yes building momentum but pretty much still learning on the job too. She learnt rather well.
It hasn't really been that long and indeed most of the leading players haven't competed between the US Open and Indian Wells. So really they have less momentum than Emma has.

Not sure that Halep and Kvitova aren't spent forces these days. Halep has got married and seems injury prone. Kvitova doesn't like the heat. Azarenka is also there but can be relied on to withdraw. Would be interesting to see a semi final between Emma and Iga Swiatek as Iga beat Emma easily at junior Wimbledon 2018. Both Grand Slam winners since then.
The 2 year age gap between Iga and Emma would be massive at junior level. I think we can say Emma s well caught up since !.
Plenty of water to flow under many bridges to make that happen of course.
